So I was playing around with my pictures a little today when I was laying on the couch feeling extra nauseated from some migrane medicine while still trying to make sure Destruct-o-girl doesn't kill herself.

This is husband. He was preaching at church a few weeks ago for a big night we have for the local junior college. All the athletic teams from the school come and he preaches then we feed everyone. There was somewhere in the relm of 450 people there I think, and he did a great job. I thought this looked like a shot from a newspaper.

This is Super-G riding his motorcycle. He is one bad mamma-jamma. Ok, so it took him two and a half years to get brave enough to ride it, but hey - he's tearing up the back yard now.

This is a super cute kid jumping on a trampoline.

This is a second super cute kid jumping on a trampoline. Doesn't she look like a big girl when her hair is in a ponytail?

This is not a person. But I'm pretty sure you could already tell that. This is, however, a poor quality photograph of the things I bought on today's shoppping trip to CVS. It was a good one so I had to brag. Sorry. Two 12-roll packs of Bounty paper towels, four boxes of kleenex, one jug Lipton tea, one Mitchum deoderant, three Hershey bars, one Revelon lip gloss, and one Maybelline Falsies mascara. Out of pocket - $13.47 Extra Care Bucks - $7 So it's basically like I spent $6.47. BOO to the YEAH. Today I saved $56.64. I know that this fact alone may encourage you to want to be like me, but remember I'm not a big showerer. So really - you don't.

Here are a bunch of photos that you may or may not care about, highlighting things going on around here this week.

Ba-ba-ba-booya!  Yep.  I finally got to do my CVSin', and let me tell ya' - it all about the ECB's baby.  So I actually did two transactions, the first of which was good but not exciting.  But then the second transaction - *scream*jump*happy dance*call somebody*put it on the blog to show off*yay*.  I got a Gillette Fusion Pro Glide razor, 5 bottles of Dawn dish soap, a bottle of Gain, 1 tube of Crest Pro-Health toothpaste, and 2 tubes of Covergirl Naturelux lip gloss for (drumrolldrumrolldrumrolldrumrolldrumrolldrumrolldrumroll)
                                                                                         $1.61
                                                                         um yeah......be jealous

I know it's hard to tell what this is, but it's my classroom at VBS.  My lesson was on Jesus and Peter walking on the water, so my room was complete with a boat, silhouettes, clouds, rain, thunderstorm noises, wind, and all glow in the dark.  It was a pain to put up and take down, but the kids seemed to really love it when they came to class.  So - totally worth it!  And I was lucky enough to have Ms. Molly, the best VBS helper and actual schedule follower in the world!  It was a great week.

This is destruct-o-girl in her car seat as we were leaving the church building yesterday.  She was already exhausted by the end of the week and then it took over two hours to get my room cleaned up.  So by that point she was a tired, hungry, ill, mad, little woman.  As you can see, one side of the pigtails was long gone, the shoe was in the process of being ripped off.  Her brand spankin' new just took off the tags that day Mudpie outfit had tootsie pop sucker that she stole from her brother's bag all over it, and she was screaming as if she was posessed by an actual demon.  I have no idea why I felt compelled to take a picture of this.  I just did.  Stellar parenting in action I guess.

This is a picture of me with my children, crashing on our couch watching Disney channel after a long week.  I am quite fond of these people.  Quite.

So I have had intentions of blogging all day for the past two days, and all I can say is "sorry" because I've been busy with my regular life.  But here I am armed with a give away, so maybe the potential of a free cute outfit will help you forgive.  My sweet sister-in-law now has an awesome little embroidery business called Squiggle Stitch, and she makes some ca-yute stuff.  And for this give away she has teamed up with a friend who sews to bring you either a jon-jon or a jumper with applique and monogram of your choice.  So if you have any small people in your life (or if you just love me enough to win one for destruct-o-girl) then head on over to her blog and enter for your chance to win.  I promised her I would give it a plug on here this past weekend and then the whole "life in the way" business happened.  So HURRY because time to enter is OVA on Friday.  It won't take but a second and she gives you four, that's right I said 4, different ways to enter.  So seriously, why not?  You know your kid (or my kid - whatevs) would look seriously ca-yute in that stuff.  Hurry.  Go.  Click the link below.  Get busy.

Musings of a Farmer's Wife
Next I just want to say that I am struggling a bit with the couponing thing.  I mean I really do enjoy it.  I do.  But sometimes I get discouraged when I leave the store because I want to be like the crazies on tv.  Ya know?  I want to walk out with a buggy full for 6 bucks.  I want to feel like I stole it.  You feel me?  No?  Really?  It's just me?  Anyway, I try.  I actually have started dedicating quite a bit of time each week to get my coupons and list ready, and I only really wheel and deal at CVS.  Well, I do occasionally go to Kroger when I get itchin' to go to the big city.... but generally I CVS it or maybe do a little ad matching at the Walmart.  (I mean I still spend a ridonculous amount of money at Walmart, I just coupon at CVS)  Anyway, I went today (with all 3 kids.  forgot about how I will miss school for that reason) and got the following:
Picture
4 cases of coke products, 3 cans pringles, 2 pack oral-B toothbrushes, 1 box Q-tips, 1 pack Stride gum, 3 hershey bars, 1 Revlon nail polish, 2 bottles coppertone continuous spray sunscreen, 1 green bag tag, a 4-pack energizer lithium AA batteries, 1 Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen, 36-count playtex tampons, and 1 edge shaving cream
Grand Total - $43.40 with $15 extra care bucks (so $28.40 if you look at it that way)
See, it just doesn't sound like some fabulous deal.  I can't walk away feeling like a bad maama jaama spending $43 (even if in reality it actually was great for the regular cost of the stuff I bought.  have you priced sunscreen lately?!).  However, I was looking at my receipt this afternoon and did notice where it had my CVS spending for the year 2011.  I have so far dropped $405.76 this year, and according to their calculations I have saved $595.82.  So there.  I feel better now.  Yeah. Yeah. Stick it to the man.  Ba-ba-ba-booya.
Ok, it's possible that typing that just made me feel like my awesomeness level was rising.  Sorry for that embarrasing little episode.  Anyways, I believe my main problem saving money is that I can't stop buying things.  (insert the obvious - "well duh")  You know how the point of couponing is to stock up on something on sale and then don't buy any more until it's on sale again?  Well I have trouble saying no to a bargain, so currently I am hoarding 6 bottle of laundry detergent, a drawer of toothpaste, and enough sticks of deoderant for a small african village.  Let's not even talk about the body wash.  I know it's an issue.  I know.  But please tell me how I am supposed to turn down $.60 bottles of body wash.  Really?  Walk away from that?  So maybe while I am honing my coupon skills I can work on my restraint.  It will be like how I restrain from eating cheese dip out of the jar with my finger and icing out of the can with a spoon.  Um...............yeah.  We'll see how that works out.

Hope your pits smell as good as ours,
Cassie

Today's CVS scores.  I actually bought more and spent more than originally planned today, but our church is collecting things to deliver to Smithville this week.  So many people lost so much in last week's storms, and this poor little town has been basically wiped off the map.  It's heartbreaking to see the photos and hear the stories.  If you would like to help in some way and don't already have a contact, please let me know.  I would be glad to get you some info.

Anyway, today I got:
1.  2 bottles Herbal Essence shampoo
2.  1 bottle RightGuard body wash
3.  1 RightGuard deoderant with travel size body wash
4.  1 box tampax pearl tampons
5.  1 package Cascade action packs
6.  2 2-packs Mr. Clean magic erasers
7.  2 Colgate MaxFresh toothpaste
8.  1 Bic Soleil Shimmer razor
9.  1 Bic Soleil Shimmer cartridge refill 4-count
10. 1 small bottel Tide detergent
11. 2 bottles Old Spice body wash
12. 1 bottle Garnier Fructis shampoo
13. 1 12-count pack Charmin Basic toilet paper
14. 2 3-bar packs Ivory soap
15. 2 12-packs AA batteries

                  Total.........$36.02 with $2 ecb's
                  Saved.......$81.98

                     Woooo-hooooo!

I know I announced last week that we would be having a coupon class this weekend, but I'm sorry to say that I had to cancel.  Turns out I am a terrible manager of my time (shocker), and we have more going on this weekend than we have time for.  I will feel horrible if Kacie packs up herself and the babies, drives all the way over here, teaches a class for me, then I ignore her the rest of the weekend while I run around like a nut trying to fit everything in.  But don't worry, she will come soon.  Plus she has offered to send me her worksheet to pass out early.  As soon as I get it I will let you know, and can email you a copy.

And now that I have bragged to you about today's purchases, I must go.  I have decided today is the day that my house has got to get clean.  Today.  Absolutely today.  Right after a take a quick little nap since Destruct-o-girl is asleep and all.

Love you like free toothpaste,
Cassie

I really like to blog every day.  I just have so much bla-bla-bla floating around inside of me begging to get out.  But I don't always know what time of day I'm going to have a chance to sit down and type.  So sorry I'm inconsistant, but right now I have a house that looks like it has been ransacked by home invaders who decided all our stuff was junk so they just threw it on the floor and took nothing.  So, of course, instead of dealing with it in any way I decided to sit down and spew the bla-bla.
I had the better part of today to begin dealing with the ransackedness (I just made that up)  so, of course again, I went shopping.  My sweet sister-in-law Kacie (who has a cute blog and embroidery business that I am going to link on here as soon as I figure out how to do that) has been trying for months and months to get me to coupon.  I would always put her off and say, "it's too much work, it's not worth the hassle, etc. etc.".  So after being jealous of her great scores for long enough, I bit the bullet and started clipping.  Well here in our metropolis we don't have much to choose from, but we did this year get a CVS, so I begged her to explain the whole CVS game thing.  The basic idea is to buy whatever is on sale that you have a coupon for and earn Extra Care Bucks (which are pretty much just coupons for X amount of money to use on your next purchase).  It took me a little smidge of time to get it going, but today I had one of my best CVS days yet. Let me preface my deals with the fact that I spent a lot out of pocket money last week, $86 to be exact, but I bought a bunch of big ticket items that I needed anyway like diapers and medicine.  But I also earned $31 ECB's for that trip which I in-turn used today.  So here it is (drumrolldrumrolldrumrolldrumrolldrumrolldrumroll)

1 bar secret deoderant, 1 bar old spice deoderant, 1 bar dove deoderant, 1 tube cover girl lash blast mascara, 2 boxes cadburry eggs, 1 small box peeps, 1 bottle palmolive dish soap, 1 easter wreath, 1 box bear shaped animal crackers, 1 24-pack case of bottled water, and 1 12-pack each of Sprite, Diet Coke, Sunkist, Dr. Pepper, 7up, and A&W rootbeer
$9.18 plus $4 ecb's

Ba-Ba-Ba-Booya'

Insert a giggle, a scream, a happy dance, and a call to Aaron here, and that would totally be me.  I was pumped. It's ok if you're jealous.  It's only normal to be.
I have Kacie to thank.  And bc she loves me, and by proxy loves you bc I love you, she has agreed to come to the home of ransackedness on May 6th to give a tutorial to me and my peeps.  Let me know if you live local and would like to come.  It's free and all.  Just a small info session in my living room.  If I have already talked to you about this, please note that the date has been moved.
If you are like me for so long and refuse to coupon let me encourage you.  When you start saving money, its a really addicting phenomenon.  So go get a paper next Sunday, start clipping, and bring home all the free toothbrushes you can without affecting your conscience.  Good luck to all of you who are trying.  I wish on you more dedication than I've got.
Now I have to go.  I just fell asleep typing that last paragraph.  If this says anything extra weird, sorry.  I'm kinda floating in that realm between conscienceness and drool.

Love ya' like free toothbrushes,
Cassie
